How admission works
Fine Art requires a portfolio review for admission to the upper-division studio sequence. You begin in the foundations courses, build a body of work, and submit a portfolio (usually at the end of the first year or the start of the second) that faculty review for admission to the major.
Foundations year and the portfolio
The foundations year builds the skills the portfolio is assessed on. Keep everything you make, document it well, and get feedback early. The review looks for potential and growth, not a finished professional book — strong observational work, evidence of process, and a few resolved pieces.
