New Student Orientation

Orientation runs the week before fall classes begin: move-in, advising, a placement test for anyone who wants to test out of a course, and a welcome address from the chancellor that has run under twelve minutes for six years running.

Traditions

  • Homecoming. Late September, built around the Ironclads' first home conference game.
  • Founders Week. A week of lectures and open houses each October marking the 1893 charter.
  • Senior Design Showcase. Every college runs its own each spring; Engineering & Technology's draws recruiters from as far as Milwaukee.

The town

Porter Falls has one main street, a food co-op, a movie theater that still runs 35mm on Tuesdays, and a noticeable number of businesses started by alumni who meant to leave after graduation and didn't.

Support for the whole student

Academic success

Peer tutoring, writing support, accessibility services and faculty advising are available from the first week through graduation.

Health and belonging

Student health, counseling, multicultural programs, recreation and student government help make campus a place to participate—not simply attend.
