Why they exist
A degree from a small polytechnic is more useful when there's a local network behind it. Chapters keep alumni connected to each other and to the university between the big reunions, and they give a recent graduate who just moved somewhere a ready-made group.
Getting involved
Show up to one event, then volunteer — chapters are run entirely by alumni with light support from the Alumni Office. Leading a chapter is also a recognized way to stay engaged with Porter if giving money isn't where you are.
In and around Porter Falls
The UW–Porter Falls Foundation shares the Depot with admissions, which is deliberate: the people who fund scholarships and the students who receive them use the same front door. Most gifts to Porter are small, local and recurring.
The practical details
What they do: Watch parties, happy hours, service projects, professional panels, and send-off events for incoming students from the area. Where: Active chapters in Lake City, the Cities, Bayport, Ashby Falls, Port Alder, Kettle Bay, and a growing list; a virtual chapter for everyone else. Join: Free — update your location in the alumni portal and you'll hear about nearby events. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.
If you have a question
The office behind this is UW–Porter Falls Foundation & Alumni Relations (Welcome Center at the Depot). Call (715) 555–0280 or email foundation@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
