What a match looks like
Not formal mentorship with homework — a monthly call or coffee where a student can ask the questions they can't ask a professor: what the work is really like, whether a graduate degree is worth it, how someone with this exact major ended up in that job. Alumni opt in knowing it's a light lift.
The pool
Around a thousand alumni volunteers across every field, skewed toward the Valley and the Cities but with enough spread that a student headed somewhere specific can usually be matched by geography too.
In and around Porter Falls
The UW–Porter Falls Foundation shares the Depot with admissions, which is deliberate: the people who fund scholarships and the students who receive them use the same front door. Most gifts to Porter are small, local and recurring.
The practical details
Commitment: About an hour a month for one semester. Match on: Field, then location, then a shared background if the student wants it. Sign up: Each fall and spring through the alumni portal. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.
If you have a question
The office behind this is UW–Porter Falls Foundation & Alumni Relations (Welcome Center at the Depot). Call (715) 555–0280 or email foundation@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
