Finding evidence in Engineering

A practical engineering guide to separate useful evidence from a quick search and record where each claim came from.

Home / Academics / Finding evidence in Engineering

Start with the situation

Name the audience, purpose, deadline, resources, and constraints before choosing a method. In engineering, a good start makes uncertainty visible instead of hiding it behind a polished first draft.

Do one useful pass

Use the smallest responsible next step: gather a source, make a sketch, ask a question, run a limited test, or review an example. Record what you did and what changed, so the work can be checked and continued.

Review with someone else

Bring the work to a peer, instructor, supervisor, or intended user with one focused question. Explain the decision you need to make, listen for evidence rather than approval, and revise the plan when the feedback changes what you know.

Fictional information
