Capital Campaign & Naming Opportunities
The current fundraising campaign behind the projects on the campus master plan, and what it takes to put a name on a building, lab or scholarship.
The current campaign
"Built for Work," the university’s current campaign, has a $42 million goal split across three priorities: the advanced manufacturing and robotics lab, an expanded Halvorsen Library study wing, and a permanent increase to need-based scholarship endowment. The campaign is run through the UW–Porter Falls Foundation, a separate nonprofit that manages gifts on the university’s behalf.
Naming-gift levels
| Endowed scholarship (named, renewable) | $50,000 minimum |
| Classroom or lab naming | $250,000 and up, by space |
| Program or center naming | By negotiation with the Foundation |
| Building naming | Typically 50% or more of total project cost |
A naming gift is a legal agreement with a defined term (commonly 20–25 years for a space, permanent for an endowed scholarship), not an indefinite claim — the agreement itself specifies what happens if circumstances change.
What is already named, and after whom
Halvorsen Library, Kessler Hall, the Fieldhouse and Founders Union all carry names tied to founding-era or campaign-era gifts; each has a short history on its own building page.
How to give
Gifts of any size go through the give page; a naming-level gift is coordinated directly with the Foundation’s development office rather than the general online form, since it involves a written agreement.
