How co-op works at Porter
A student works a related role full or part-time, enrols in the approved experience course, and completes learning objectives set with a faculty coordinator. Most placements are with employers in the Valley or the Cities, and many convert to a job offer.
Finding and finishing a placement
Career coaches help with the search, résumé, interviews and evaluating an offer, and PorterConnect lists roles from approved employers. During the term the coordinator checks in, the site supervisor evaluates progress, and the student produces a reflection for a portfolio or capstone.
In and around Porter Falls
Career Services in Founders Union 160 works with every major, but the pattern is the same across them: a required internship, co-op or clinical placement before graduation, listed on each program page. Ninety-six percent of Porter undergraduates complete one, most of them with an employer in the Valley or the Cities.
The practical details
Required: Every undergraduate program, before graduation. Completion rate: 96% of Porter undergraduates. Course: An approved experience course with faculty learning objectives. These specifics can shift from term to term, so confirm anything time-sensitive — a deadline, an appointment, an eligibility rule — before you count on it.
If you have a question
This is handled by Career Services (Founders Union, Room 160). Call (715) 555-0205 or email careers@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or use MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If another office turns out to own the question, they will pass it along rather than send you back to the beginning.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
