Corporate & economic engagement

The office that turns a regional employer’s problem into a funded project, a co-op line, or a new lab partnership.

Home / Corporate & economic engagement

What the office does

Corporate & Economic Engagement is the front door for a regional business that wants to work with Porter — contract research, applied senior-capstone projects, a co-op or internship pipeline, custom workforce training, or shared lab and equipment access. It matches a company’s problem to the right department, center, or faculty expertise.

For employers

A company can propose a capstone project for a specific department, sponsor contract research through a faculty lab, set up a standing co-op pipeline, or contract custom training for its own workforce delivered on campus or on-site. Most engagements start with a short intake conversation, not a formal proposal.

For faculty and departments

The office also works the other direction — helping a faculty member with an applied-research interest find an industry sponsor, or a department build the kind of employer relationship that turns into capstone placements and hiring pipelines for its own graduates.

Regional footprint

Most partnerships are with manufacturers, health systems, and technology employers within roughly a hundred miles of Porter Falls — the same region most graduates stay in — which is deliberate: the strategic plan treats regional economic partnership as one of four institutional priorities, not a side activity.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
