Organized by college, not alphabet
Porter’s 28 departments sit inside seven colleges, and most students only ever need the department running their major — the directory is built to search by program name first, department name second, because almost no incoming student knows which department teaches which major.
Where departments actually sit
Most departments keep faculty offices in the building tied to their college: engineering and manufacturing departments in Founders Hall, computing in the Jarvis Technology Center, art and design in the Applied Arts Building, health sciences in the Health Sciences Center. A department chair’s office hours are listed on each department’s own page.
Finding the right person
Program directors handle curriculum and advising escalation; department chairs handle personnel, budget and scheduling; college deans handle everything that crosses departments. The directory flags which of the three a listed contact is, so a question does not bounce three times before landing.
The practical details
Colleges: 7. Departments: 29, across the seven colleges. Fastest way in: Search by program name, not department name. These specifics can change from year to year, so confirm anything time-sensitive directly with the office below before you rely on it.
If you have a question
This is handled by University Communications (Millwright Hall, Room 210). Call (715) 555–0250 or email news@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
