Get alerts

Students and employees keep contact information current in MyPorter so urgent notices reach the right phone or email.

Know the basics

Follow posted evacuation routes, shelter instructions, accessibility plans and directions from emergency personnel; do not use elevators during a fire.

Return to learning

After an incident, recovery teams coordinate building status, class changes, technology access, counseling and communication about next steps.

Get the alert

Porter Alert sends urgent notices by text and email, and it only works if a student or employee keeps a current cell number in MyPorter. The system is tested on a published schedule so a real alert is recognisable.

Know the building

Every building has posted evacuation routes, shelter locations for severe weather and an accessibility plan for people who cannot use stairs. After an incident, recovery teams coordinate building status, class changes, technology access and counselling and communicate the next steps.

In and around Porter Falls

Porter Campus Safety operates from the ground level of Millwright Hall around the clock during the semester and coordinates with the Porter Falls Police and Fire departments, whose stations are both within a mile of campus. For a real emergency the number is 911; Campus Safety handles escorts, lockouts, lost-and-found and the campus alert system.

The practical details

Alerts: Porter Alert texts and emails; keep MyPorter current. Severe weather: Sirens plus shelter maps in every building. Never: Use elevators during a fire alarm. These specifics can shift from term to term, so confirm anything time-sensitive — a deadline, an appointment, an eligibility rule — before you count on it.

If you have a question

This is handled by Porter Campus Safety (Millwright Hall, ground level). Call (715) 555-0191 or email safety@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or use MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If another office turns out to own the question, they will pass it along rather than send you back to the beginning.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
