About the event
Winter Carnival is a week of cold-weather events in February 2027: the ice sculpture contest, the broomball tournament on the frozen Millrace pond, the Chili Crawl with Depot District restaurants, and the alumni broomball game, which is on Saturday, February 13. All of it is planned by students, and the planning starts now, because ice, permits and restaurants all need more notice than you would think.
This meeting is where the committee forms. Hana Lindqvist, a junior and this year’s committee chair, will cover the budget, which comes from the student activity fee through Student Government, and last year’s lessons. One of those lessons is that the Millrace pond ice has to pass inspection, and in a warm January it does not.

Location and access
Founders Union 204 is on the second floor, by the elevator past the information desk. The meeting is also streamed for students on co-op or in clinicals. The link is in the MyPorter listing. The accessibility subcommittee is new this year. Its first job is making sure every outdoor event has a heated indoor viewing option.
Registration
Just come. Student organizations that want to sponsor an event or enter a sculpture team should send one person. The Ironclad Robotics club, which runs the ice-sculpture challenge, has already said it is sending three. Students who cannot come can email the committee and pick a subcommittee afterward.
Contact and related events
The committee is advised by the Dean of Students Office. For what a Porter Falls February is actually like, read seasons in Porter Falls. Alumni events during the carnival are on the alumni events calendar.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. This meeting, the committee and its chair are invented, and so is the carnival they are planning; there is no pond to inspect and no pizza.
