Why Marcus is in the Hall of Fame
The program's all-time leading rusher, with a single-season record that stood for eighteen years and a WCAC Offensive Player of the Year award in his senior season.
Playing (or coaching) days
Marcus Webb was a student-athlete in Football at UW–Porter Falls from 1998–2001. Inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015.
After Porter
Webb played briefly in an independent professional league before returning to the Valley, where he now runs a youth football camp each summer.
In their own words
“Every yard I got, five other guys made possible. That's the only way I know how to talk about it.”
— Marcus Webb, at the 2015 induction ceremony
What current Ironclads can take from this
Current Porter football athletes are told this record is not the point — the habits behind it are. Marcus's coaches from that era describe someone who treated an ordinary Tuesday practice the same as a championship meet, which is the part of the story that is supposed to transfer even to an athlete who never breaks a record.
Common questions
How does someone get nominated? Anyone can nominate a candidate through the athletics site; athletes become eligible ten years after their last season, while coaches and teams are considered on their own timeline.
Where is this inductee recognized on campus? Every inductee is added to the physical Hall of Fame display in the Ironhouse Athletic Center concourse with a short citation, alongside a profile on the athletics site for their induction year.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Marcus Webb is an invented athlete; every statistic, quote, and date on this page is fictional.
