International travel registry

Registering university-related travel abroad so the institution can reach and assist you in an emergency.

Home / International travel registry

How it works

Enter your itinerary and contacts in the travel registry before you go. That enrolls you in the university's international assistance program — a 24/7 line for medical referrals, evacuation, lost documents, and security incidents — and lets the university account for you if something happens in the region.

High-risk review

Destinations with a government travel warning trigger a review that weighs the academic purpose against the risk, may require a safety plan, and in some cases is declined. Personal vacation travel isn't covered by this registry, though the assistance program can sometimes be extended for a fee.

In and around Porter Falls

For a campus this size Porter both sends and receives a steady stream of students internationally. The Global Education Office in Founders Union runs the advising, the risk review and the arrival and re-entry programming.

The practical details

Who registers: Students, faculty, and staff traveling internationally on university business, study, or research. What it provides: Emergency medical and security assistance coverage, pre-trip health and safety information, and a way to be contacted in a crisis. High-risk destinations: Travel to countries under a warning needs additional review and approval. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.

If you have a question

The office behind this is Global Education Office (Founders Union, Room 240). Call (715) 555–0220 or email global@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
