Music ensembles
Concert band, jazz ensemble, choir, orchestra, pep band, and small chamber groups all take students from any major. Some (pep band, some choirs) are open enrollment — just show up; others hold a short placement hearing at the start of the semester to sort parts, not to cut people. Most ensembles can be taken for one academic credit or joined as a no-credit activity, rehearse two or three times a week, and perform two to four times a term. Instrument lockers, some loaner instruments, and practice rooms in the music building are available to members.
Theatre season
The season is typically two mainstage productions plus a slate of student-directed one-acts and studio pieces. Every role on a production is open to any student by audition or application: acting, of course, but also directing, stage management, and the design and craft areas — set, lighting, sound, costumes, props, projections — plus the run crew. Auditions are posted on the arts calendar and held in the first weeks of each semester; you do not need a monologue memorized for the studio slate, and the program would rather teach a willing beginner than turn people away. Production work can count for credit through a practicum course or simply go on your involvement record.
Attending
Student tickets are free or a few dollars with your Campus Card and are released before the general public. Performances are in Heritage Auditorium and the smaller studio theatre; every performance has wheelchair-accessible and companion seating and assistive listening, and selected dates each run offer open captioning, ASL interpretation, an audio-described performance, or a relaxed/sensory-friendly performance — those dates are marked on the calendar and can also be requested. Doors and late-seating policies are listed with each show.
