Nursing Program Adds Second Clinical Cohort for Spring 2027

The College of Health Sciences will begin admitting a second, smaller Bachelor of Science in Nursing cohort each spring starting in 2027, a response to an admissions waitlist that has grown for three consecutive years despite the program's expansion in 2024.

The spring cohort will be capped at 40 students, compared to 118 in the fall cohort, and will use the same five-hospital clinical rotation network. Faculty say the smaller size is a deliberate constraint tied to available clinical placement capacity, not a lesser program.

“We could fill twice this many seats,” said the program's associate director. “What we can't do is manufacture more clinical placements faster than our hospital partners can absorb them.”
