Timesheets & getting paid

How student hours are recorded, when paychecks land, and what to do if one is wrong.

Home / Timesheets & getting paid

Deadlines matter

Miss the timesheet approval cutoff and your hours roll to the next pay cycle — you're not losing the money, just waiting two more weeks for it. Set a recurring reminder for submission day.

If a paycheck is wrong

Tell your supervisor first — usually it's a missed punch or an unapproved timesheet, fixed on the next run. For a tax or deduction question, contact the payroll office. Keep your own log of hours worked until you trust the system.

In and around Porter Falls

The Porter Student Help Desk in Founders Union 118 is the single place to start when it is not obvious which office owns a question.

The practical details

Recording hours: Clock in and out in the payroll system each shift, or submit a timesheet your supervisor approves by the deadline. Pay schedule: Biweekly; the first check comes a pay period or two after you start, so budget for the gap. Direct deposit: Set it up in the payroll portal or you'll wait on a mailed paper check. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.

If you have a question

The office behind this is Porter Student Help Desk (Founders Union, Room 118). Call (715) 555–0120 or email help@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
