Circuits, electronics, signals, power, and embedded systems. Courses carry the EE subject code and are offered through the College of Engineering & Technology. Numbers below 300 are introductory, 300–499 advanced undergraduate, and 500 and above graduate. Prerequisites are enforced at registration.

How the sequence works

Of the 9 EE courses listed, 2 are introductory (numbers under 300), 2 are advanced undergraduate (300–499). 1 course has no prerequisite and is a reasonable first step. Later courses assume the earlier ones, so read prerequisites before you plan a term — they are enforced at registration and an override from the Electrical Engineering department is the only way around them.

EE 2000 — Circuit Analysis I 4 cr

DC and AC circuits: node and mesh analysis, Thévenin and Norton equivalents, phasors, power, and lab measurement.

Prerequisite: MATH 2400, PHYS 2020.

EE 2100 — Circuit Analysis II 3 cr

Transient response, Laplace methods, frequency response, resonance, two-port networks, and filters.

Prerequisite: EE 2000.

EE 2400 — Digital Logic 4 cr

Boolean algebra, combinational and sequential design, state machines, and implementation on a programmable logic device in the lab.

Prerequisite: none.

EE 2600 — Electronics I 4 cr

Diodes, bipolar and field-effect transistors, biasing, small-signal analysis, and single-stage amplifiers, built and measured.

Prerequisite: EE 2000.

EE 3100 — Signals and Systems 3 cr

Continuous and discrete signals, convolution, Fourier and Laplace transforms, sampling, and linear time-invariant systems.

Prerequisite: EE 2100.

EE 3300 — Embedded Systems 4 cr

Microcontroller architecture, C for embedded targets, interrupts, timers, buses, and interfacing sensors and actuators.

Prerequisite: EE 2400, CS 1100.

EE 3500 — Electromagnetics 3 cr

Electrostatics, magnetostatics, Maxwell's equations, plane waves, transmission lines, and impedance matching.

Prerequisite: MATH 2600, PHYS 2020.

EE 3700 — Power Systems 3 cr

Three-phase power, transformers, machines, transmission and distribution, per-unit analysis, and an introduction to the grid.

Prerequisite: EE 2100.

EE 4900 — Senior Design 3 cr

A two-term team project delivering a tested electrical or electronic system for a sponsor.

Prerequisite: senior standing.
