Transferring from a Wesconsin Technical College

The short version

Porter has articulation agreements with all sixteen Wesconsin Technical College System (WTCS) districts. A student who completes an approved associate of applied science degree at a WTCS college is guaranteed admission to the matching bachelor’s program at Porter, with a block of credit already mapped out before the first advising appointment.

How credit transfers

Two transfer paths exist side by side. A block transfer applies when a completed associate degree matches an articulation agreement on file — the whole degree transfers as a set, satisfying most of the first two years of general education and, for a technical AAS, a meaningful share of major requirements. A course-by-course transfer applies to any other combination of technical-college credit, evaluated individually against the Porter course catalog by the registrar’s office.

Where the gap usually is

Applied technical AAS degrees (like those in manufacturing, IT support, or automotive technology) tend to transfer heavily into Porter’s matching bachelor’s completion tracks. General liberal-arts associate degrees transfer more broadly across majors but leave more upper-division coursework to complete on campus. Either way, a transfer credit evaluation happens before a deposit is due, not after enrollment.
