Assessment & accreditation

Evidence, review and improvement processes supporting educational quality.

Home / Assessment & accreditation

Program assessment

Faculty define learning outcomes, review student work and use evidence to improve curriculum, teaching and resources.

Accreditation

Institutional and specialized reviews document standards, outcomes and continuous improvement for students and the public.

Public information

Program accreditation, licensure disclosures and institutional review status are published with responsible offices and dates.

Evidence, not paperwork

Every program defines a small set of learning outcomes, collects samples of actual student work each year, and meets to decide what one change would help. The point is a decision a department can act on, not a binder for a visitor.

What is published, and why

Program accreditation status, licensure-by-state disclosures and key outcomes are posted with the responsible office and the date last reviewed, so a prospective student in a licensed field can check before enrolling rather than after.

In and around Porter Falls

Curriculum decisions at Porter still run through the departments that meet in Founders Hall and the Applied Arts Building, then to Faculty Senate, then to the Provost in Millwright Hall. The pace is deliberately slow: a new program takes roughly two years from proposal to first cohort, and the review calendar is published so students and employers can see what is coming.

The practical details

Institutional accreditor: Higher Learning Commission (fictional standing: reaffirmed 2022). Program reviews: Every seven years, staggered. Public disclosures: Licensure and outcomes, updated each fall. These specifics can shift from term to term, so confirm anything time-sensitive — a deadline, an appointment, an eligibility rule — before you count on it.

If you have a question

This is handled by Office of the Provost (Millwright Hall, Room 300). Call (715) 555-0130 or email provost@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or use MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If another office turns out to own the question, they will pass it along rather than send you back to the beginning.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
