What the Senate owns
Curriculum, degree requirements, academic standards, the calendar and academic policy come through Faculty Senate committees before they reach the Provost. Administrative decisions about budget and personnel do not; the line is written into the governance document.
Taking part
Any faculty member can attend, serve on a committee, or speak during the open period on the agenda. Students and staff senates send liaisons, and major changes get a comment window before a vote.
In and around Porter Falls
Curriculum decisions at Porter still run through the departments that meet in Founders Hall and the Applied Arts Building, then to Faculty Senate, then to the Provost in Millwright Hall. The pace is deliberately slow: a new program takes roughly two years from proposal to first cohort, and the review calendar is published so students and employers can see what is coming.
