What mediation does
A neutral pair of trained mediators helps two parties reach their own written agreement on a dispute — a security-deposit disagreement, a fence line, a bill — without going to court. Nothing said in mediation is admissible later, and either party can walk away.
The limit
Mediators do not give legal advice, tell anyone what the law says, or take a side. When a matter clearly needs a lawyer, the clinic says so and points to Student Legal Services or a Valley legal-aid office.
In and around Porter Falls
Porter Falls is a town of about 17,000 that has always shared its workforce with the university. Projects are scoped to the Valley first: Porter, Cedar Bluff and Redgranite before anywhere else.
The practical details
Where: Millwright Hall, by appointment. Who's served: Students and Porter Falls residents. What it is not: Legal advice or representation. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.
If you have a question
The office behind this is Office of Outreach & Engagement (Millwright Hall, Room 120). Call (715) 555–0235 or email engage@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
