Student life

Commuter student resources

Where to park, eat, study, and store your things if you don't live on campus.

Home / Commuter student resources

A place to land

The commuter lounge is the closest thing to a dorm room for students who drive in: day-use and semester lockers, microwaves and a fridge, quiet corners and a group table, and a bulletin board for carpools. It's the recommended spot to spend a two-hour gap between classes.

Logistics

Buy a parking permit matched to how early you arrive — close lots sell out and need an early class to be worth it; the Depot lot is cheap and the shuttle runs every ten minutes. Commuter meal blocks (a set number of dining-hall entries, no expiry within the term) beat a full plan for most.

In and around Porter Falls

Student life at Porter is organised out of Founders Union, the building students call the campus living room. The Dean of Students Office is on the second floor.

The practical details

Base: A commuter lounge in Founders Union with lockers, a kitchenette, and lockers by the term. Parking: Commuter permit tiers by lot distance; a park-and-ride shuttle from the Depot lot. Meals: Pay-per-visit dining, a commuter meal block, or Dining Dollars — no full plan required. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.

If you have a question

The office behind this is Dean of Students Office (Founders Union, Room 200). Call (715) 555–0182 or email deanofstudents@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
