About the event
For one evening a year, two residence halls open their doors to the neighbors. The Residence Hall Association and the resident assistants turn the hallways of Millrace and Riverside into a trick-or-treat route. Doors that are decorated and propped open are giving out candy. Closed doors are not, and children are asked not to knock. Last year about 600 children came through, and residents gave out an estimated 14,000 pieces of candy, some of it bought with the hall council budget and most of it from the residents themselves.
Several floors run a theme. The fourth floor of Millrace has run a haunted hallway two years running, with a less-scary version for small children from 4 to 4:30.

Location and access
Both halls have elevators, and the route is fully indoors and step-free. Walking between them takes about four minutes on a lit path. Park free in the general lots on Saturday. Visitor parking shows which lots, and the closest is the North lot. Strollers are welcome. Every child must stay with an adult, and residents will not let a child into a room.
Registration
No registration. Check in once at the Millrace Hall lobby for a wristband so the RAs can count heads. Residents who want to hand out candy sign up with their RA by October 26. Floors that sign up get a share of the candy budget.
Contact and related events
The event is run by Residence Life and the RHA, with Campus Safety on site. More on the halls is on Millrace Hall, and more free events for families are on For the community. The next family event is STEM Saturday on November 14.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. This trick-or-treat, its route, its candy count and its haunted hallway are invented. No residence hall is opening its doors, and no child should go looking for one.
