What it is

Convocation formally opens the academic year and the entering class's time at Porter. It is short — a welcome from the chancellor and a faculty speaker, the reading of the class's home counties, and the class photo on the Fieldhouse floor afterward.

It is the bookend to commencement, and students are encouraged to keep the program.

Accessible routes and entrances are on the accessible campus map. For an in-person event that lists registration, register through the office below; walk-ins are usually fine for anything marked open or free.

What to expect when you arrive

No registration is required for this one — arrive any time during the listed window and expect a short check-in table near the entrance if the event runs one.

If you can't make it

Many events like this repeat each semester or year — filter the full calendar by "Academic" to find the next one. Not every session is recorded; if this one matters and you cannot attend, ask Office of the Provost directly whether materials or a recap will be available afterward.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. This event, its date, venue and details are invented; nothing here announces a real event.
