Engineering Discovery Day

February 17 · Founders Hall · Prospective students, register in advance

Home / Events / Engineering Discovery Day

What it is

Admitted and prospective students spend a half-day in the engineering and applied-technology labs doing a hands-on project — machining a part, wiring a circuit, running a materials test — with current students and faculty.

One of the strongest predictors of whether an admitted engineering student enrolls is whether they came to a day like this.

Details

When: February 17, 2026–27 academic year. Check the live calendar in MyPorter for the exact time.

Where: Founders Hall.

Who it's for / cost: Prospective students, register in advance.

Type: Admissions.

Getting there and getting in

The campus is 86 acres and nothing is more than a ten-minute walk from anything else; see the building directory for Founders Hall. Accessible routes and entrances are on the accessible campus map. For an in-person event that lists registration, register through the office below; walk-ins are usually fine for anything marked open or free.

What to expect when you arrive

Because this one lists a reservation or ticket step, arrive with your confirmation ready — some sessions have sold out in past years, and a held spot can be released to the waitlist if you are more than a few minutes late.

If you can't make it

Many events like this repeat each semester or year — filter the full calendar by "Admissions" to find the next one. Not every session is recorded; if this one matters and you cannot attend, ask Admissions & the College of Engineering & Technology directly whether materials or a recap will be available afterward.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. This event, its date, venue and details are invented; nothing here announces a real event.
