Founders Hall

Engineering, manufacturing and applied technology laboratories at the center of campus.

Home / Founders Hall

Learning spaces

Facilities include automation, materials, metrology, machining, electronics, fluids and senior design laboratories.

Visitor access

Public entrances open during posted hours. Specialized laboratories require an instructor, host or completed safety training.

Services

Founders Hall includes college advising, faculty offices, project storage, team rooms and Engineering Express dining.

The oldest working building on campus

Founders Hall has held classes every year since 1912 and still has the original machine-shop floor beneath three later renovations. Automation, materials, metrology, machining, electronics, fluids and senior-design labs share the building with college advising and the Engineering Express counter.

Getting in

Public entrances are open during posted hours and the main corridor and gallery are open to visitors. Individual labs require an instructor, a host or completed safety training, and the high-bay and machine areas require closed-toe shoes and eye protection at all times.

In and around Porter Falls

The campus is compact — 86 acres, 14 buildings — laid out along the old Millrace between downtown Porter Falls and the river. The Porter Loop shuttle circles it every twelve minutes during class hours, and the lighted Riverfront Trail connects the academic core to North Campus in about a ten-minute walk.

The practical details

Opened: 1912, on the old fairgrounds. Home to: College of Engineering & Technology. Landmark: Original 1912 machine-shop floor, still in use. These specifics can shift from term to term, so confirm anything time-sensitive — a deadline, an appointment, an eligibility rule — before you count on it.

If you have a question

This is handled by Facilities & Campus Planning (Millwright Hall, Room 40). Call (715) 555-0245 or email facilities@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or use MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If another office turns out to own the question, they will pass it along rather than send you back to the beginning.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
