About the position
The Student Success Center puts advising, tutoring, and success coaching in one place on the first level of Halvorsen Library, so a student can be walked from an advising appointment to a tutor without re-explaining anything. Advisors carry a caseload of about 300 students, most of them exploring majors or moving between programs, and they are the first call when the early-alert system flags a student in week three or six.
The work is seasonal in a predictable way: registration rushes in November and April, orientation advising in June and July, and a quieter January and summer for projects.

Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. This job posting is invented: there is no advisor position, advising caseload, salary, or search committee, Celeste Moberg does not exist, and applications sent anywhere go nowhere.
