Alumni Couple Endows Scholarship Covering Full Tuition for Twelve Manufacturing Students a Year
The gift, the largest ever from individual donors to the College of Engineering & Technology, targets students from the region’s manufacturing towns.
A gift from two 1980s graduates has endowed a scholarship that will cover full in-state tuition for twelve students a year in manufacturing engineering, welding technology, or automation, with preference for students from the small manufacturing communities across the region. It is the largest gift from individual donors in the college’s history.
The donors, who met in a machine-shop class and went on to run a contract-manufacturing business, structured the gift as a permanent endowment so it continues indefinitely, and added a modest stipend within each award for tools and steel-toed boots.

The first cohort will be selected for fall 2026. The college is working with regional high schools and technical colleges to make sure eligible students know the award exists.
