First Cohort of the New M.S. in Cybersecurity Begins Classes

Nineteen students met for the first session of the new M.S. in Cybersecurity Monday evening, the inaugural cohort of a program the College of Computing & Information Sciences first proposed three years ago.

All nineteen are working security professionals continuing full time, a design constraint that shaped the entire program: every course meets one evening a week, and the capstone is built around a security assessment at the student's own employer.

“We turned away qualified applicants in year one because we capped the cohort at twenty,” said the program's director. “That is a good problem, and next year's cohort will probably be larger.”
