Halvorsen Library Adds a Permanent 24-Hour Study Zone
A card-access wing with power, printing, and a small café case will stay open around the clock during the semester.
Halvorsen Library has converted its ground-floor east wing into a permanent 24-hour study zone, accessible by student ID card whenever the rest of the building is closed. The zone has individual and group seating, ample power, a printing station, vending, a refrigerated café case, and a staffed security desk overnight.
The library previously extended to 24 hours only during the two weeks before finals. Usage data from those weeks, and a student government survey, made the case for a year-round option, particularly for commuter students, parents, and students working evening jobs.

The rest of the library keeps its normal semester hours. The 24-hour zone closes during breaks.
