Roughly 2,600 Students Move Into Residence Halls
A staggered, appointment-based move-in and 300 student volunteers kept the first-year arrival to about twenty minutes per family at the curb.
About 2,600 students moved into UW–Porter Falls residence halls over three days, with first-year arrivals scheduled by appointment in 30-minute windows to keep traffic moving. Around 300 returning students and staff volunteered on unloading crews, and the median time a family spent at the curb was about twenty minutes.
This year’s first-year class filling the halls is part of another large incoming cohort. Housing is at effective capacity; the university has converted a small number of lounges to temporary triples and expects to clear them within a few weeks as schedules settle.
Welcome Week programming runs through the first day of class, including the involvement fair with more than 300 student organizations, college meetings, and the convocation that formally opens the academic year.
