University Names New Provost After National Search
The incoming provost, currently a dean at a peer polytechnic, starts in January and has named applied learning and advising as early priorities.
UW–Porter Falls has named its next provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs following a national search, effective in January. The incoming provost is currently the dean of engineering and applied science at a comparable polytechnic university in another state, and previously ran that institution’s co-op and experiential-learning office.
In a message to campus, the provost-designate named two early priorities: making sure every student, not just those in the strongest-advised programs, has a clear four-year plan and a knowable path to on-time graduation; and expanding paid applied-learning experiences so that finances are not the reason a student skips a co-op or a research summer.

The search committee included faculty, staff, students, and a member of the governing board. The current provost, who is retiring, stays through December to manage the transition.
