Parking Moves to Tiered Pricing by Lot Distance Starting This Fall
A flat annual permit fee is being replaced with three price tiers based on how close a lot is to the campus core.
Campus Safety and Parking Services will replace the single flat annual permit fee with three price tiers this fall, based on how close a lot is to the academic core: core lots cost the most, a middle tier covers most residential-adjacent lots, and the outer park-and-ride lots served by the Porter Loop shuttle cost the least.
The change is meant to spread demand more evenly; core lots have been over-subscribed for three straight years while outer lots run under capacity most of the semester. Students, faculty, and staff who already hold a permit for the coming year keep their current rate through renewal.

A limited number of low-income student permits at the outer-lot rate will be available regardless of which lot a student is assigned, through an application with financial aid.
