Home / Orientation schedule

Choosing a session

Summer orientation runs as several two-day sessions so families and students can pick dates around work and travel; each session runs the same content, so there is no “better” one, only a more convenient one. A separate one-day January session serves spring admits.

What actually happens

Day one is placement testing, an advising appointment, and a schedule built before the student leaves; day two is the campus-life half — housing, dining, safety, technology setup and a welcome event that doubles as the first chance to meet an orientation leader by name.

First-week logistics

Move-in, the involvement fair and First Forge all land in the same first ten days, which is intentionally overwhelming in a structured way; the printed and digital schedules both flag which events are mandatory versus optional so nobody plans around the wrong ones.

The practical details

Summer sessions: Multiple two-day sessions, June–August. January session: For spring-start students. Cost: One flat fee, billed to the student account. These specifics can change from year to year, so confirm anything time-sensitive directly with the office below before you rely on it.

If you have a question

This is handled by Dean of Students Office (Founders Union, Room 200). Call (715) 555–0182 or email deanofstudents@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
