Questions, concerns & complaints

A clear, respectful route for raising concerns, requesting review and finding the right office.

Home / Questions, concerns & complaints

Start close to the problem

Most concerns are resolved fastest by starting with the person or office closest to the issue — an instructor, a supervisor, a front-line office — and moving up only if that does not resolve it; the page for each specific process (grade appeals, conduct, Title IX, accessibility) has its own more detailed path.

When it is not obvious where to go

A general concern that does not obviously belong to one office can be filed through a short university-wide form, and the Dean of Students Office routes it to the right place rather than asking the student to guess. The form works for both students and visitors.

What happens after filing

A complaint is acknowledged within about five business days, and the responsible office explains the process and expected timeline at that point — timelines vary widely depending on whether the concern requires an investigation. Retaliation against someone for raising a good-faith concern is a separate, explicitly prohibited conduct violation.

The practical details

First step: The person or office closest to the issue. Typical response: Acknowledged within 5 business days. Retaliation: Explicitly prohibited by policy. These specifics can change from year to year, so confirm anything time-sensitive directly with the office below before you rely on it.

If you have a question

This is handled by Dean of Students Office (Founders Union, Room 200). Call (715) 555–0182 or email deanofstudents@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
