The process
Submit a constitution and a roster of at least five students plus an advisor through the student organization portal; Student Government reviews for overlap with an existing group and for a lawful, non-discriminatory purpose. Most approvals take two to three weeks.
Keeping it alive
Every recognized org re-registers each fall — current roster, current advisor, updated officers. Miss it and the org is marked dormant: no funding, no room bookings, until it re-registers. This is the single most common reason a club “disappears.”
In and around Porter Falls
Student life at Porter is organised out of Founders Union, the building students call the campus living room. The Dean of Students Office is on the second floor.

To start: Five student members, a constitution, and a faculty or staff advisor. Recognition gets you: A budget request line, room reservations, a table at the org fair, use of the university name. Renew: Every fall, or the org goes dormant.
