About Entrepreneurship
Turning an idea into a tested venture. Courses carry the ENTR subject code and are offered through the College of Management. Numbers below 300 are introductory, 300–499 advanced undergraduate, and 500 and above graduate. Prerequisites are enforced at registration.
How the sequence works
Of the 9 ENTR courses listed, 3 are introductory (numbers under 300), 1 is advanced undergraduate (300–499). 1 course has no prerequisite and is a reasonable first step. Later courses assume the earlier ones, so read prerequisites before you plan a term — they are enforced at registration and an override from the Entrepreneurship department is the only way around them.
ENTR 2000 — The Entrepreneurial Mindset 3 cr
Opportunity recognition, bias for action, dealing with uncertainty, and the ethics of building something new.
Prerequisite: none.
ENTR 2500 — Customer Discovery 3 cr
Finding a real problem worth solving: interviewing, testing assumptions, and pivoting on evidence.
Prerequisite: ENTR 2000.
ENTR 3100 — Building the Business Model 3 cr
Value proposition, channels, revenue and cost structure, and sizing a market honestly.
Prerequisite: ENTR 2500.
ENTR 3200 — New Venture Finance 3 cr
Bootstrapping, funding sources, cap tables, unit economics, and a financial model that a founder can actually run.
Prerequisite: BUS 2100.
ENTR 3300 — Product and Prototype 3 cr
From concept to a minimum viable product or prototype, and learning from what users do with it.
Prerequisite: ENTR 2500.
ENTR 3500 — Marketing for Startups 3 cr
Early traction, positioning, low-budget channels, and measuring what is working.
Prerequisite: ENTR 3100.
ENTR 3700 — Small Business Management 3 cr
Running an existing small business: operations, cash, hiring, and growth decisions.
Prerequisite: ENTR 3100.
ENTR 4100 — Social Entrepreneurship 3 cr
Ventures built for impact, blended value, measurement, and funding models.
Prerequisite: ENTR 2000.
ENTR 4900 — Venture Capstone 3 cr
A student or team develops a venture to a validated stage and pitches it to a panel of founders and investors.
Prerequisite: senior standing.
