What we are
University of Wesconsin–Porter Falls Polytechnic is one of the smaller campuses in the University of Wesconsin System, and the only one built explicitly around applied, hands-on learning across engineering, computing, business, health sciences, education, design and the technical trades. Every program on this site requires an internship, co-op, clinical placement, practicum or capstone with an outside partner before graduation — that is not an option some programs offer. It is the model.
Why polytechnic, and why #2
Wesconsin has one campus that has called itself “Wesconsin's Polytechnic University” since the 1990s. We are not that campus. We are Porter — smaller, younger as a polytechnic identity, and honest about where we rank. “Do more from day one.” is not false modesty; it is on our letterhead. It has also turned out to be a decent recruiting pitch: a chip on the shoulder is a renewable resource.
