What it changes
Approved coursework stays on the transcript with a notation but stops counting toward the GPA, so a strong return isn't dragged down by a rough first attempt years earlier. The credits themselves are also removed — renewal is a reset, not a way to keep passing credits while dropping the failing ones.

Almost every approved case is someone who left for financial or family reasons, not academic ones, and has already shown a full term of good standing since coming back.

The practical details
Eligibility: A gap of at least two years since the coursework, and a term of solid grades since returning. Effect: Up to two semesters of grades excluded from the GPA, kept visible on the transcript. Limit: Once per student, ever. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.
