The ladder
A first term below a 2.0 cumulative GPA is usually a warning, then probation, each carrying requirements — meeting an advisor, a study-skills course, sometimes a reduced course load. Suspension is a required term away, not an expulsion; students return through a readmission process with a plan.
The point of the requirements
Probation's extra advising and course caps aren't punishment — they're the interventions that most reliably turn a term around. Students who engage with them recover at a much higher rate than students who treat probation as a formality.
