Counselor regions
Wesconsin counselors are assigned by county; out-of-state and international counselors are assigned by location and student type.
What to ask
Counselors can explain admission review, deadlines, transfer credit, costs, visits and next steps without pressuring students toward a particular major.
Connect
Schedule a phone, video or campus appointment. General questions receive a response within one fictional business day.
Find the counselor for your area
Wesconsin high schools and technical colleges are assigned by county, and transfer applicants are routed to a counselor who works only with transfer credit and adult admission. The assignment list is posted every August before travel season and again in January.
What a counselor will not do
Counselors do not decide admission on their own, move a file ahead of its review date, or steer a student toward a major to fill a section. If a conversation starts to feel like a sales pitch, that is worth raising with the director of admissions.
In and around Porter Falls
Most families reach campus from the west on US 12 or by regional coach into the Depot District, and the Welcome Center at the Depot — the restored 1911 rail station, two blocks from Founders Hall — is where visits start. Counselors travel to college and transfer fairs across Porter County, the Valley and the Cities each fall, and the office keeps Saturday hours during Millrace Week and through the month of April.
The practical details
Territories: 72 Wesconsin counties, plus 6 regional and 4 international. Reply time: One business day for email. Travel season: September through November; transfer visits in spring. These specifics can shift from term to term, so confirm anything time-sensitive — a deadline, an appointment, an eligibility rule — before you count on it.
If you have a question
This is handled by Office of Admissions (Welcome Center at the Depot). Call (715) 555-0143 or email admissions@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or use MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If another office turns out to own the question, they will pass it along rather than send you back to the beginning.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
