Tomás Reyes

B.S. '20, Packaging Technology · Package Development Engineer, a national consumer goods company

Tomás Reyes is one of a small number of engineers nationally with an undergraduate degree specifically in packaging — a fact he says still surprises people at conferences. He works as a package development engineer for a national consumer goods company, designing packaging that survives distribution without over-using material.

He returns to campus periodically to recruit directly from the program that trained him. “There aren't many schools doing this,” he says. “When I need to hire, I call Porter first.”

Advice for current students

“Say yes to the opportunity that scares you a little. Almost everything I am proud of started as something I was not sure I was ready for.” — Tomás Reyes

Stay connected

Tomás Reyes is one of several hundred graduates listed in the alumni mentor network, where current students can request a short conversation with an alum working in their field. Mentors set their own availability — some take one student a term, some take several — through the network's opt-in matching form.
