AP, IB & CLEP credit

The scores that earn UW–Porter Falls credit, and how that credit counts toward your degree.

Home / AP, IB & CLEP credit

Reading the chart

Look up each exam you took: a 4 on AP Biology might grant the intro biology course and its lab; a 5 might grant more. IB higher-level exams generally earn more than standard-level. The chart shows exactly which Porter course number each maps to, so you know what you can skip.

Making it count

Credit posts once official scores arrive — do this before orientation so you register accurately. If an exam grants a course you'd rather take at Porter (some students retake intro chemistry for a stronger foundation), you can decline the credit, but you can't have both.

In and around Porter Falls

Curriculum decisions at Porter run through the departments that meet in Founders Hall and the Applied Arts Building, then to Faculty Senate, then to the Provost in Millwright Hall. The pace is deliberately slow and the review calendar is published.

The practical details

Where to find it: A published table: each AP/IB/CLEP exam, the minimum score, and the Porter course(s) it grants. How it counts: As real credit toward the 120 for a degree, and often toward a specific general-education or major requirement. Send scores: Have the testing agency send an official report to Admissions; self-reported scores don't post credit. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.

If you have a question

The office behind this is Office of the Provost (Millwright Hall, Room 300). Call (715) 555–0130 or email provost@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
