Orientation runs the week before fall classes begin: move-in, advising, a placement test for anyone who wants to test out of a course, and a welcome address from the chancellor that has run under twelve minutes for six years running.
Traditions
- Homecoming. Late September, built around the Ironclads' first home conference game.
- Founders Week. A week of lectures and open houses each October marking the 1893 charter.
- Senior Design Showcase. Every college runs its own each spring; Engineering & Technology's draws recruiters from as far as Milwaukee.
The town
Porter Falls has one main street, a food co-op, a movie theater that still runs 35mm on Tuesdays, and a noticeable number of businesses started by alumni who meant to leave after graduation and didn't.
