Before a decision
Students speak with an adviser, financial aid, housing, athletics or international services as relevant because one change can affect several obligations.
Document the step
Published deadlines, instructor notifications, refund rules, transcript notation and satisfactory-progress effects vary by timing and situation.
Plan a return
A leave plan identifies re-entry term, holds, health or accessibility support, housing, finances and the first appointment after returning.
Talk to more than one office
A single withdrawal can move financial aid, housing eligibility, athletic eligibility, health insurance and international status, so the first step is a conversation with an adviser plus aid, housing, athletics or international services as they apply. One form does not tell every office.
Plan the return now
A leave plan written before a student leaves — naming the re-entry term, the holds to clear, any health or accessibility support, housing, finances and the first appointment back — is the difference between returning next term and not returning at all.
In and around Porter Falls
Curriculum decisions at Porter still run through the departments that meet in Founders Hall and the Applied Arts Building, then to Faculty Senate, then to the Provost in Millwright Hall. The pace is deliberately slow: a new program takes roughly two years from proposal to first cohort, and the review calendar is published so students and employers can see what is coming.
The practical details
Deadlines: On the academic calendar; vary by session length. One change: Can affect aid, housing, athletics, visa status. Leave plan: Names a return term and a first appointment back. These specifics can shift from term to term, so confirm anything time-sensitive — a deadline, an appointment, an eligibility rule — before you count on it.
If you have a question
This is handled by Office of the Provost (Millwright Hall, Room 300). Call (715) 555-0130 or email provost@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or use MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If another office turns out to own the question, they will pass it along rather than send you back to the beginning.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
