Laboratories
Flexible labs support software engineering, networks, cyber defense, data science, game development and immersive visualization.
Cyber range
An isolated teaching environment lets students practice defense and authorized testing without exposing production systems.
Collaboration
Project rooms, tutoring, employer interview space and the Technology Help Desk connect courses with professional practice.
An isolated place to break things
The Jarvis cyber range is a fully separated network where students practise defense and authorised testing without any path to campus production systems. Course sections reserve it in blocks; independent projects apply through a faculty sponsor.
More than labs
The building also holds the Technology Help Desk, drop-in tutoring for computing courses, employer interview rooms and the visualization studio. The open labs on the first floor are available to any student whenever the building is unlocked.
In and around Porter Falls
The campus is compact — 86 acres, 14 buildings — laid out along the old Millrace between downtown Porter Falls and the river. The Porter Loop shuttle circles it every twelve minutes during class hours, and the lighted Riverfront Trail connects the academic core to North Campus in about a ten-minute walk.
The practical details
Home to: College of Computing. Cyber range: Isolated teaching network, reservable by course. Labs: Software, networks, data science, game dev, visualization. These specifics can shift from term to term, so confirm anything time-sensitive — a deadline, an appointment, an eligibility rule — before you count on it.
If you have a question
This is handled by Facilities & Campus Planning (Millwright Hall, Room 40). Call (715) 555-0245 or email facilities@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or use MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If another office turns out to own the question, they will pass it along rather than send you back to the beginning.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
