Porter Esports Wins Regional Collegiate Championship
The university's varsity esports program brought home its first regional title, three years after the program's founding.
Porter Esports won the regional collegiate championship in its primary title Sunday, the program's first regional title since its founding in 2023 as a joint effort between Student Government and the College of Computing & Information Sciences.
The program now fields five competitive rosters out of the arena in the student union, with several roster members double-majoring in Computer Science or Game Design & Development.
“People still ask if this is a real team,” said the program's coordinator. “We now have a regional trophy to point at when they do.”
