University Signs Ten-Year Workforce Pipeline Agreement With Three Regional Manufacturers
Graduates of five engineering and applied-technical programs will have a guaranteed interview under a new regional partnership announced Tuesday.
UW–Porter Falls signed a ten-year workforce agreement Tuesday with three of the region's largest manufacturers, guaranteeing a first-round interview to graduates of five programs: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, the CNC Machining certificate and the Welding Technology certificate.
“We have been hiring from Porter informally for twenty years,” said one of the participating employers at the signing. “This just makes it official and gives us a seat at the table when the curriculum changes.”
Under the agreement, the three companies will also fund four new pieces of shop equipment annually and host a rotating slate of guest lecturers. The College of Engineering & Technology says it expects the arrangement to expand its co-op placement rate, already at 97 percent, further still.
