$2.4 Million Federal Grant Funds New Advanced Manufacturing Lab
The College of Engineering & Technology will break ground this spring on a new automation and robotics teaching lab.
The College of Engineering & Technology has been awarded a $2.4 million federal workforce-development grant to build a new advanced manufacturing and robotics teaching lab, expected to open for the fall 2027 semester.
The lab will house six industrial robotic arms, a new CNC bay, and dedicated space for the Center for Advanced Manufacturing's sponsored industry projects. Dean of Engineering & Technology said the current shop space, built in 1998, “has been at capacity for about six years, politely.”
The grant requires a 20 percent institutional match, which the university says it will meet through a combination of the capital budget and gifts to the Equipment & Lab Modernization Fund.
