Fall Enrollment Reaches 8,412, a Nine-Year High
Enrollment grew 6.1 percent over last fall, driven by Nursing, Cybersecurity and the university's expanded technical-college transfer agreements.
Nursing enrolled 118 first-year and transfer students this fall, its largest class ever, following three years of steady growth in regional demand for RN-track graduates. Cybersecurity enrolled 96, its second consecutive record class.
The university's expanded articulation agreements with Wesconsin's technical colleges accounted for roughly a third of the year-over-year growth, according to the registrar's office — the largest single driver after direct high school admissions.
Chancellor Elaine Vandehey credited the growth to programs that connect directly to a job. “We are not for everyone,” she said. “We are extremely for some people, and that keeps working out.”
Housing is at 98 percent occupancy this fall. A small number of students are temporarily assigned to the Porter Falls Inn while a wait-list clears.
